I coached U9 last year and agree with what adjustingsail said. 8-9 year olds can be a handful, they NEVER get tired. Be patient, some girls will pick up the game faster. Focus on the basics. Have a bunch of drills/activities listed because practices go by very fast. Depending on your team, do the ones they think are fun. (If you know of the number game, that one never gets old). Having prizes like candy and ice cream don't hurt either. Encourage teamwork and of course, the love for the game.
Thanks! I start next week and the previous coaches are giving me a binder if drills they used last year. What’s the numbers game??
